Our BEGINNING

Saga of Logo making way for HINEDA to plant its roots in the industry. The logo for HNDE was initially designed for convocation of 1st and pioneering batch in 1991. The concept of this magnificent logo was initially developed then by late P.T.R.S. Kumara (1st Batch) Deepthi Hathurusinghe (4th batch) together with H.W. Palitha (1st batch) to a row sketch. After some painstaking effort put in by Athula Dharmadasa, Anoma Kumuduni & Pradeepa Samaratunga from 3rd batch, art work and the designed upto what turned out to be a professional and eye catching logo, was created by Nandana Perera of 3rd batch. As it turned out, logo truly reflects the real meaning of HNDE that we cherish upto now. Subsequent to this development, Pradeep Fernando (1st batch), A.M. Kumarasinghe (1st Batch), Janaka Senevirathna (4th batch), Majella Rodrigo (4th batch) & few others were instrumental in getting this logo printed in the blazers later proudly worn by the 1st & 2nd batches at their respective convocations. It is pertinent to mention here with gratitude that, the then Minister of Higher Education, Hon. A.C.S. Hameed even went to an extent of spending his own money to meet the expenses of Maroon Blazers for the entire 1st batch. This logo continues to appear in the official correspondences of 1st & 2nd batches through letters, banners and all such presentations acting as a guiding light to establish the diplomates' association, HINEDA. In short, creation of HNDE logo & inception of HINEDA can be considered something inter-wound and not as separate entities. In later years, 2010 & 2011, due to necessity arising out of registering HINEDA as an association at company registrar office, black & white logo, hitherto used, had been changed to color logo with same features. This color logo now is a permanent fixture in all HINEDA correspondences and others. HINEDA, now a fully fledged professional body, represents the interests of HNDE diplomates' serving the engineering trade both in Sri Lanka and overseas with distinction.
